The Ka Bar U.S.M.C. knife is the knife used by the Marines. The KB-1217 is plain edged but is also available serrated. Comes with a brown leather sheath with the U.S.M.C. logo.
The Ka-Bar Story: Shortly after the start of World War II, Ka-Bar began working with the Marine Quatermasters to design a fighting knife for the United States Marine Corps. Ka-Bar's wartime production was over 1 million knives. The knife was later adopoted by not only the Marines but also the Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Underwater Demolition Teams (the precursor to the Navy Seal Teams). These knives were depended upon to perform daily tasks like pounding stakes and digging foxholes, not to mention defending lives. Production ceased after the War but in the 1970's using the original blueprints, this knife was remanufacturered. There were a few minor changes to the knife due to advances in technology but this is very similar to the knife that is on display at the USMC museum in Quantico. The Ka-Bar Fighting/Utility Knife remains the first choice of many troops who choose to carry a Ka-Bar as their personal option knife. Because of the high quality and history, the Ka-Bar knife is also a favorite among adventurers, survivalists, outdoor sportsmen and collectors.
